Get plumber bids in Portland

Plumbing projects split into the planned and the discovered: a water heater at the end of its life, a bathroom addition, a repipe of the galvanized lines that came with the house, versus the mystery stain spreading on a ceiling. For anything that is not an active emergency, competing bids beat calling the first number that answers.

What to put in your plumbing post

  1. 01The job as you understand it: repipe, water heater, new fixtures, drain issues, remodel rough-in
  2. 02House age and pipe material if known (galvanized in mid-century homes is a common repipe driver)
  3. 03For water heaters: tank or tankless preference, fuel (gas or electric), and a photo of the current unit
  4. 04Symptoms with specifics: low pressure where, slow drains which, noises when
  5. 05Photos under sinks, of the water heater, and of any visible pipes
  6. 06Access notes: crawlspace, basement, or slab changes how work happens

Plumbing questions, answered

Tank or tankless water heater?

Tanks are cheaper to install and simple; tankless costs more up front, lasts longer, and never runs out mid-shower, but may need gas or electrical upgrades. Bids on your actual house settle the debate better than the internet can.

What is a repipe and how do I know I need one?

Replacing the house's supply lines, usually because original galvanized steel is rusting shut. Rusty water at the tap, pressure that fades when two fixtures run, and pinhole leaks are the classic signs in Portland's mid-century homes. It is a very biddable project: plumbers quote it from house size and access.

Can I post drain or sewer problems?

Yes, if they are not an active emergency. Recurring slow drains, backups, or a sewer-scope report from a home purchase all make solid posts. Include any camera footage or reports you have; they sharpen bids considerably.

Are the plumbers licensed?

Every bidder is license-verified against the Oregon CCB or Washington L&I registry before they can bid. Bids arrive with the business name, price, and availability, and nobody gets your contact info until you pick.
